Procurement and logistics initiative
Overview
The Service Delivery and Performance Commission (SDPC) report, Review of Purchasing and Logistics in the Queensland Government April 2007 was tabled in Queensland Parliament on 9 August 2007. A copy of the report is available at http://www.thepremier.qld.gov.au/sdpc/reviews.
A significant agenda for change in procurement governance, practices and associated business systems is progressing from the implementation of the recommendations. The aim of this work is to improve the value for money achieved from the sector’s expenditure on supplies, services and capital works, which in turn improves service delivery to Queensland.
Whilst the Procurement and Logistics Implementation Office has had the responsibility for leading, managing, and monitoring the implementation of the recommendations of this Review, the focus now is to look beyond the SDPC Review and provide a refreshed view and direction for the future of procurement across the sector. The areas of focus are:
- development and implementation of the Procurement Performance and Management and Reporting framework (Qld Government Procurement Plan, Corporate Procurement Plan and Procurement Performance Measurement system)
- providing advice and assistance to departments regarding costs and benefits considerations
- regular reporting to the Procurement Board of Management
- annual reporting to Cabinet via the Queensland Government Procurement Report.
