Buy Green: Sustainable Procurement
'Buy green' means the purchase of products and services which have less impact on the environment and human health compared with competing products or services that serve the same purpose. It's also called 'Sustainable Procurement', 'Environmental Procurement' and 'Green Procurement'.
This website provides practical resources and tools to Queensland Government agencies to assist in achieving sustainable procurement.
Sustainable procurement is not new – it's been incorporated into the objectives of the State Purchasing Policy for many years. However, Queensland Government Chief Procurement Office is giving it a higher priority to enable purchasers to choose greener products and services that achieve the same function and value for money outcomes.
