Training bodies for Quality Management

Australian Organisation for Quality

The Australian Organisation for Quality (AOQ) is a national, member-based, not-for-profit organisation, operating since 1968. Dedicated to promoting quality management principles throughout both the private and public sectors, it seeks to improve the profitability of industry through better quality performance, advocating an improved environment for quality, and motivating industry to become more quality-oriented.

Business Excellence Australia

Business Excellence Australia (BEA) is a division of Standards Australia International Ltd. BEA promotes business improvement strategies based on gap analysis against the Australian Business Excellence Framework and identifies priority solutions for gap closure. Organisations that successfully use this Framework to pursue organisational excellence often become participants in the Australian Business Excellence Awards to celebrate improvement and achieve recognition of their success.

RABQSA International

RABQSA International, previously known as the Quality Society of Australasia, is a not-for-profit independent organisation, offering professional membership to practitioners working within quality related disciplines. RABQSA provides internationally recognised certification for management system auditors in a range of disciplines including Quality, Environment, Occupational Health and Safety, and Food Safety. It also certifies and registers international quality management consultants and accredits Training Providers that deliver flexible training and assessment in auditing competencies. RABQSA is contracted to manage a number of specific personnel registration programs including Aged Care Quality Assessors (on behalf of the Aged Care Standards & Accreditation Agency).

Other training organisations

Some TAFE facilities and Third party Certification organisations also provide training services in areas of Quality Assurance, Quality Management and other business management aspects. All Third party Certification organisations are listed on the Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand (JAS-ANZ) website at http://www.jas-anz.com.au.

Registration of Quality Management System Auditors

Quality management systems auditors, employed by the Queensland Government in its second party certification scheme will be registered with Queensland Government Chief Procurement Office and must be eligible for registration with either the RABQSA or the International Register of Certified Auditors (IRCA).

Quality management systems auditors employed by accredited Third Party certification bodies are required to be registered with RABQSA or the International Register of Certified Auditors (IRCA).

Contract auditors registered with the Queensland Government must hold current registration as an auditor with either of the two registration bodies.

Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand

The Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand (JAS-ANZ) is the ‘watchdog’ of the quality profession in Australia and New Zealand. Established under a treaty between the governments of Australia and New Zealand in 1991, this not-for-profit, self-funding organisation not only accredits the quality management system certification bodies, but also signs international, mutual recognition agreements with overseas accreditation bodies on behalf of Australia and New Zealand.
