Are you looking to start your career in a growing profession where the opportunities for professional development are strong, where the profession's profile continues to grow and where practitioners can make a difference?
If you answered ‘yes’, then you should consider a career in procurement!
A career as a procurement professional
The Queensland Government is one of the largest purchasers of goods and services in the state.
Procurement professionals must be able to analyse and understand business requirements, supply markets and financial data. They need to have good research and analytical skills, be able to communicate and negotiate effectively, as well as set goals and adhere to priorities.
The program
The Procurement Graduate Program offers graduates a chance to work on meaningful projects that make a difference to the people of Queensland.
The program has been developed to suit recent university graduates with business or business-related degrees. It is a 12-month program of on-the-job experience, training and networking opportunities, and includes an introduction to public-sector writing, leadership development, and core elements from the internationally recognised and CIPS accredited QGCPO Training and Certification Program.
Successful applicants are placed within one of the participating Queensland Government departments, agencies or government-owned corporations for the 12-month period, and embark on an accelerated program of formal and informal training, coupled with on-the-job learning and mentoring.
Procurement is an important function in any business; it is an expanding profession with many exciting career pathways and opportunities!
