A Purchasing Profile provides a statistical overview of the agencies purchasing activities during a specified period. In essence it provides a picture of who is buying what, from whom, when, how and for how much.
The information assists the agency in the management of its procurement opportunities as well as in managing specific product categories. This covers not only the planning (including Supply Positioning (see SUPREM), Corporate Procurement Planning and Planning for Significant Purchases) but also the implementation and ongoing operation of procurement activities.
While the basic profile has a standard format, it is often customised to agency requirements. This may include in-depth demand analyses of product categories for which the market is analysed and purchasing strategies developed.
