State Procurement Advisory Council

The State Procurement Advisory Council (SPAC) was established in 2000.

Role

The role of the State Procurement Advisory Council is to advise the Minister for Public Works, Housing and Information and Communication Technology on strategic matters relating to government procurement.

Membership

Chairman
Director-General, Department of Public Works

and a single representative of the following:

Industry Groups
1. Australian Industry Group
2. Australian Information Industry Association
3. Industry Capability Network Queensland
4. Institute of Management Consultants
5. Commerce Queensland
6. Professions Australia
7. Queensland Master Builders Association

Unions
8. Queensland Council of Unions

Government agencies
9. Department of Public Works
10. Department of Tourism, Regional Development and Industry

Other
11. Procurement Council Representative

The composition of the Council may change from time to time as determined by the Minister.

Reporting relationships

The State Procurement Advisory Council has no formal lines of reporting or executive powers.

The Director-General, as Chair of the council, communicates to the Minister the issues raised in discussions at council meetings at which the Minister is not present.

Meeting frequency

The council meets four times each year with two meetings held in regions.

Secretariat

The secretariat to the State Procurement Advisory Council is provided by Queensland Government Chief Procurement Office, Department of Public Works.
