State Procurement Policy

Revisions to the State Procurement Policy
From February 2010 the QGCPO will be consulting with government, industry and unions on proposed revisions to the State Procurement Policy (SPP).

The revisions are part of the Queensland Government's Response to Integrity and Accountability in Queensland, released in November 2009, in response to the Integrity and Accountability in Queensland discussion paper.

The opportunity will also be taken to improve aspects of the SPP in relation to consistency across the sector, sustainability and improving procurement capability.

It is expected the revised State Procurement Policy will be implemented from 1 July 2010.

About the State Procurement Policy
The State Procurement Policy delivers benefits for government, suppliers and the community through the commitment to three equally ranked objectives: advancing Government Priorities, seeking value for money and purchasing with probity and accountability.

The procurement of goods, services and capital projects can account for between about 20% and 80% of an agency's total expenditure. The procurement activities of the Queensland Government therefore have significant economic and budgetary implications. The framework established by the State Procurement Policy maximises the benefits of government procurement.
